Rosita Silk

Rosita, originally from Lithuania, solely, handmakes, hand sews and hand decorates fashion items made of purely natural materials. Although her main texture is silk, in this collection she has also made use of other natural materials such as cotton and wool.

Rosita believes in taking care of the environment and that is why her collection focuses on the importance and the beauty of nature. Her new collection also introduces a new technique of the uses of pressed and dyed real plants, to continue the aspect of using environmentally friendly means to create beautiful clothing.

“Blue Modus Vivendi”, the collection of 2018 presented at Malta Fashion Week 2018, had a wide range of items of not only silk scarves which wear beautifully hand-painted. The Blue in her collection represented the sky and sea and is visible in her collection. The attention on the Blue is to accentuate the beauty of the Mediterranean sea and its clean waters.

Sif Jakobs

The woman behind this brand, Sif Jakobs herself is a well-known businesswoman in many countries. She has stores in 18 countries and will now also have her collection in Malta at 202 Jewellery. She was educated by a goldsmith in Sweden after which she has travelled the world, with Copenhagen being her home base since 2010 and made Italy her second home and a place for inspiration. Her collections are also named after Italian cities.

The presentation of her beautiful items was certainly unique, as the models walked around and then stood on white blocks as real-life figurines. It was a little unfortunate that due to the movement of the models, it was a little hard to see the collection fully, however, the collection was visible as there is a whole stand that showcases her collection for all to see.

Sif Jakobs presented glamorous upscale items which came in a variety of styles and colours, as well as materials. 18K Rose Gold 95 Silver finished in Yellow Gold together with high-quality Zirconia. Here are some shots of her collection:

Carla Grima

A very well-known name in Malta, Carla Grima Atelier is a Malta-based fashion studio with a vision to capture nature’s luxury. Her summer collection 2018 is called “Tahlia”: A wistful daydreamer caught up in the euphoria of wanderlust.

Her collection had a variety of summer beachwear items with beautiful vibrant colours which remind you of the calm and relaxed feeling that summer brings along. Her collection included items such as kaftans, dresses, and palazzo pants, all items were made of lightweight fabrics.

The collection focused more on a Caribbean vibe rather than a Mediterranean one, with prints of the designer’s recent adventure to Dominica. Stunning colour combinations of green and orange in print together with brush stripes, creating a contemporary feel by combining the natural and linear.

Eymeric Francois

A designer who is very well known at Malta Fashion Week, ever since his very first appearance during Malta Fashion Week 2015. This is the third time that I get to see Eymeric’s work and to me, it is like being at a museum and admiring a piece of art. His work is primarily art to me and only afterward is it fashion. Eymeric Francois’ items remind me of a time when fashion was not something that was considered ordinary, but rather, was seen as something unique and the viewers would admire not only the entire look but would look into every detail to try and understand the making of the whole masterpiece. You can’t help it, or simply take just one look at his work. It grasps your attention and you want to see more of it.

Another interesting fact is that all the designs seen at the fashion show are not actually for sale. They act as prototypes. If you would like to obtain a piece by Eymeric Francois, you need to get in touch with him and you may choose elements from these prototypes, and Eymeric himself will create a unique, one-of-a-kind look just for you.

His collection “I Put A Spell On You” once again did not disappoint. There was a range of styles in this collection, unlike something I have seen in the past. There was a variety of tuxedos as well as long gowns. Colours mainly being black and white, and so much detail in every single piece. Every item accentuating the figure of the model as well as fitting so elegantly but also revealing a hidden side which only some may ever see. Eymeric’s creations are not simply fashioned pieces. Each carries a story, a deep story that transforms the woman wearing that piece.
